Full Description

Made 1891 at the Springfield Armory. Marked “8/NY/510” on the comb of the stock, meaning 8th New York Volunteers, who drilled with these rifles in preparation for the Spanish American War. Right side of the stock is marked “8/221”. “V/P/Eagles Head/P” proofs on the chamber. Boxed “SWP/1891” inspector cartouche on the right side of the stock, and circled “P” firing proof on the wrist. 32-1/2″ barrel with blade front sight (with original protector), and “R” marked Buffington rear sight. Original blued finish, case colored breech block and oiled wood stock. Includes original attached leather sling, tools in the butt stock and ramrod bayonet. CONDITION: Metal is very good, forming a natural brown patina throughout. Wood has minor wear, impressions and scratches. Bore is bright, with strong rifling. Sling has light wear and crazing. Hard to find this compete! Antique, no FFL required in most areas.
