Full Description

Made 1889. Late non ramrod bayonet rifle, with “NJ” marked on the left side of the chamber, indicating use by the New Jersey Militia. “V/P/eagles head/P” proofs on the chamber. “C/58” marked on the top of the chamber. “1884” dated breech block, with standard markings on the lock plate. Boxed “SWP/1889” cartouche on the left side of the stock. Circled “P” on the wrist. “US” marked on the top of the butt plate. Blade front sight and Buffington rear ladder, marked “R” on the ladder. Original blued finish. Stock has been sanded and oiled. Smooth metal butt plate. A filler disc is on the left side of the butt. Original ramrod. CONDITION: Metal is good overall, with a solid patina throughout. Wood has scrapes, scratches and impressions. Bore is frosted, with good overall rifling. Antique, no FFL required in most places.
