Full Description
Made 1918 by Winchester for the U.S. Government fighting in WW1. This gun was sent to Norway circa post WW2, where it was upgraded to use their type of K98 stripper clips (a notch was cut into the receiver to allow of the extra length of cartridges seated in the striper clips). Import marked on the barrel. Winchester marked barrel dated “3-18” under a flaming bomb. “W” marked stock and rear sight. Bolt is “R” marked and arsenal numbered to a different gun. Stock is arsenal matched to the rifle. Faint WW1 era “eagles head” proofs are visible on the wrist. 26″ barrel with original sights. Arsenal blued finish and oiled wood stock. CONDITION: Metal is excellent overall. Wood has minor impressions, scrapes and scratches. Bore is lightly frosted. Very good overall rifling. A must have for any Norwegian or 1917 collection!
