Full Description

Made 1891. Ramrod bayonet rifle, with “V/P/eagles head/P” proofs on the chamber. “1884” marked breech block. Standard markings on the lock plate. Boxed “SWP/1891” cartouche on the left side of the stock, and circled “P” firing proof on the wrist. Butt plate has its traditional “US” marking at the top, and also has ‘2/A/34/NGP”, with stock also having “N.G.P.” marks These marks stand for National Guard of Pennsylvania, likely being used by them during the Spanish American War. Blade front sight and “R” marked Buffington rear. Original blued finish and oiled wood stock. Metal butt plate with door for tools (none present). Period brown leather sling is attached. CONDITION: Metal is good overall, with general gray/brown patina. Wood has handling marks, scrapes and scratches. Bore is bright, with strong rifling. Sling has minor wear and crazing. Antique, no FFL required in most areas.
